I know this is redundant, but literally every month has been flying by so fast! I honestly do not know where November went. But now onto my favorites!
I plan on doing a separate Honest Beauty post, so I’ll just give you a brief summary of my thoughts. The good: it smooths over the skin, it is slightly tinted to even out discoloration, and it has a subtle shimmer in it to make you glow. The bad: it does contain phenoxyethanol and dimethicone. The former is a preservative that can cause skin and lung irritation, but in low doses it is deemed safe by the FDA. The latter is commonly used in cosmetics to provide that silky smooth feel that glides over skin, but it can also clog pores. Would I buy this again? No. For now, it is my favorite, but I will be looking elsewhere once I run out of this primer.
This rich, tinted moisturizer hydrates my combination/oily skin that has changed to being somewhat dry now that it’s finally starting to feel like winter. Oily gals should be warned. This is a highly moisturizing product, so it may make you look too “dewy” in a bad way. The coverage is perfect for every day wear and it covers most of my imperfections, minus the occasional giant red spot or two that I get. This tinted moisturizer is also fragranced, but does not linger throughout the day, so if you have a sensitive nose keep this in mind.
This 2-in-1 packs a serious punch! It gives you incredibly voluminous lashes to the point of being too clumpy (so use a careful hand). But alas, it transfers to my lower lash line easily because it is such a wet formula. So, in short: love the volume, hate the transferring! Listen up Honest Beauty, you need to make a water proof version of this mascara, STAT!
I guess there’s a rule where you’re supposed to use a brow pencil that is 1-2 shades lighter than your hair. Personally, I don’t like rules. This brow pencil in Deep Black matches my eyebrows quite well I have to say. It’s not a stark black to where it looks intensely gothic. Plus, the nib is small and precise enough to really get in your brows and fill them with actual hair-like strokes. I also love that the opposite end comes with a spoolie. This definitely rivals my beloved Zuzu Luxe brow pencil!
I picked up this eyeshadow stick thanks to a Gilt.com voucher that I bought. I heard Anita from AESTHETIKA rave about these and so I was immediately interested. For many, this won’t crease on them, but it actually did crease on me around the sixth hour mark. I still think that’s not too shabby. Naked Glimmer is a perfect every-day shimmery nude color that you can just swipe on and not think about!
This brush was also another item that Anita raved about and I already have the Bdellium Tools smoky eye brush set, yet this brush was not included. It’s a completely vegan, cruelty-free crease brush that blends everything together seamlessly! It’s fluffy, yet tapered so you get a precise, yet soft blending action. I also love that it so super affordable. I got my brush from iHerb.com for around $7-8 and they do free shipping over $25 I believe too!
Before my green beauty days, I was in love with Bath & Body Works products! They had the best scents and they always had fantastic deals. But those days are over because of the icky ingredients found in their body products. I picked up this Deep Steep lotion at my local TJ Maxx for about $5 and it seriously smells like a B&BW product minus the yucky ingredients! I don’t know how Deep Steep did it, but it totally makes me nostalgic. Sugar Plum is a sweet berry scent that doesn’t linger throughout the day and the lotion makes your skin feel soft and nourished. It’s not the most moisturizing lotion, but I honestly got it because of the scent!
Music: One Direction, Justin Bieber, & Disclosure
I like cheesy pop music. Maybe it’s because I grew up when Britney Spears, *NSYNC, and the Backstreet Boys were gigantic forces in the music world. So, I will profess my love for One Direction and Justin Bieber. 1D’s new album “Made in the A.M.” is a solid pop album despite losing Zayn. The melodies of the songs sound very scattered, but somehow they are cohesive as an entire record. “What A Feeling” is definitely my favorite because it has this cheesy 80’s karaoke-vibe to it.
Now, I’m not a Belieber, but I really dig Justin Bieber’s new album “Purpose.” I swear, probably every track is about Selena Gomez, but it’s still a great string of songs. Literally every song could be a stand-alone single too. I’m really rooting for the kid. He’s been acting like a spoiled little sh*t, and I just want to see him rise up and get his act together.
Lastly, Disclosure’s album “Caracal” rounds out my November Favorites. The British duo are just great at adding their flair to the electronic music scene. They’re not your typically OONTZ-OONTZ-OONTZ-type of artists. Disclosure is a lot more soulful and offbeat. My favorite tracks include “Magnets” that features Lorde, and “Moving Mountains.”
And that does it for my November 2015 Favorites! Let me know if you have any questions or share what you have been loving! Below you can watch my video where I talk about these products more in-depth! Thanks for reading!
